Journey and Steve Miller Band are hitting the road for their summer 2014 tour with special guest Tower of Power. It’s a fitting pair with both bands originating from the same era and same state – late ‘60s, California.
The two bands are co-headlining the tour, which will make stops in more than 30 cities across North America, visiting White River Amphitheater in July. Tower of Power, a soul-funk group, will open the night and get the crowd going.
Steve Miller will take the stage before Journey and open with “The Joker.” Fans will hear their favorites, like “Take the Money and Run,” “Abracadabra,” and, of course, “Jungle Love.” Expect a few solo acoustic moments and plenty of energy.
Journey will close the show with Arnel Pineda taking center stage. Pineda commands the stage and brings the energy that gets fans excited. Fans may be surprised to hear the tune “Be Good to Yourself” first on the set list, but their biggest hits “Faithfully” and “Don’t Stop Believin’” won’t be far behind.
Although both bands hail from the same era and the same city (San Francisco), this is the first time that Steve Miller Band and Journey are taking the stage together.
Journey first emerged in 1973 with the band’s original members being former members of Frumious Bandersnatch and Santana. The band saw its greatest commercial success between 1978 and 1987 before disbanding temporarily. It was during their greatest period of success that the band released their most famous hit “Don’t Stop Believin’”. Escape was the band’s eighth and most successful album with “Open Arms” becoming a major hit.
The Steve Miller Band formed in 1967 and went on to become a staple in classic rock and early acid rock. Over the years, the band has had several members come and go, but this never took away from the band’s ability to produce hits and put on a great show.
