Daryl Hall & John Oates, better known as Hall & Oates, have been active since 1970 and hail from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The duo writes the majority of songs that they perform and often feature John Oates on guitar and lending his vocals when needed.
The band’s rock and roll fusion with rhythm and blues helped the band rise to fame in the 70s and 80s.
Hall & Oates have sold over 40 million albums during their career, leaving their mark as the third best-selling duo in history. The band’s top hits on the Billboard 100 include “Out of Touch,““Maneater” and “Rich Girl,” among numerous others.
The band has 34 hits that have made it on the Hot 100 and has seven albums which have reached platinum status for selling over 1 million copies. The band has six albums that have been certified RIAA gold.
The band’s U.S. success has not translated to success in the U.K., where they have only achieved moderate success.
Hall and Oates were honored with the induction into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. The duo is ranked 15th all-time by Billboard magazine.
Hall & Oates‘ last released an album, Home for Christmas, in 2006.
The duo is touring on the “Tears for Fears“ tour. The tour’s initial shows have been a major success, but an announcement in late July of the tour’s postponement for their Los Angeles, San Jose and Santa Barbara shows was made.
The announcement was quickly followed up with the duo promising to honor tickets and rescheduling all of the shows.
The postponed dates will be made up between September 14th and 18th.
Tears for Fears is a 29-date tour, making stops at some of the most famous arenas in the country. The tour will be alongside the co-headliner Tears for Fears.
Tears for Fears is an English band from Bath, England that has been active since 1981. The band’s members Roland Orzabal and Curt Smith remain, while Ian Stanley and Manny Elias have both left the band.
The Hurting was the band’s debut album, which reached the top spot on the UK Albums Chart. Songs from the Big Chair helped the duo rise to fame in the United States, reaching the number one spot on the Billboard 200 and going multi-platinum.
The duo parted ways before reforming in 2000 and working on their seventh studio album together. The duo has sold over 30 million albums, and will also be playing in Israel and London in 2017.
