Rise Against and Deftones are joining forces in an extensive co-headlining tour this summer. The North American leg of the tour kicked off in June in Chicago and will wrap up in July in Phoenix.
The 21-date tour will include special guests Thrice, with stops in Dallas, Boston, Philadelphia, Charlotte, Denver and Las Vegas.
The tour supports Gore, the first album from Deftones in four years.
Deftones will also play two dates in October and November at the Northside Rock Park Meeting Fest and Ozzfest Meets Knotfest respectively.
Alternative metal band Deftones was formed in Sacramento, California in 1988 by Chino Moreno, Abe Cunningham and Stephen Carpenter.
While heavily influenced by heavy metal, Deftones is considered one of the most experimental bands to hit the alternative metal scene.
The band has released eight albums, with Around the Fur (1997) and White Pony (2000) being some of the most successful releases. White Pony includes the band’s most commercially successful single “Change (In The House of Flies).” The album track “Elite” won the band the Grammy Award for the Best Metal Performance.
Deftones released their eighth album Gore in 2016. The album, met with critical acclaim, reached number one on the album charts in Australia and New Zealand. It peaked at number two on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart.
Labeled as melodic hardcore and punk rock, Rise Against was formed in Chicago in 1999. The current lineup includes Tim McIlrath, Brandon Barnes, Zach Blair and Joe Principe.
Known for being advocates of progressivism, Rise Against is an active supporter of animal rights and are all vegetarians.
In the first four years of their career, the band was signed to the independent label Fat Wreck Chords. They released two albums under this label, including The Unraveling and Revolutions per Minute.
The band reached mainstream success in 2004 with the release of Siren Song of the Counter Culture. The album spawned the singles “Give It All,” “Life Less Frightening,” “Swing Life Away.”
Rise Against’s next two albums The Sufferer & the Witness and Appeal to Reason also achieved commercial success, peaking at number 10 and 3 respectively on the Billboard 200.
The band released its latest album Wolves in April 2017 through Virgin Records. The lead single “The Violence” was released on 4-20-17. After touring with Deftones, the band will hit the road again on its own tour in the fall with White Lung and Pierce the Veil.
