Nine Inch Nails & Soundgarden

NIN and Soundgarden announced a co-headlining tour this summer with special guest Death Grips. Fans of both bands may be surprised by the pairing as Nine Inch Nails’ Trent Reznor has thrown a few jabs at Soundgarden’s Chris Cornell.

The 90’s rock titans will trek across North America making 23 stops on their tour. The tour kicks off in July in Las Vegas on the 15^th and will come to White River Amphitheater on 30th August. The two bands are celebrating the 20 year anniversaries of their two most popular albums of the 90s – Superunknown for Soundgarden and The Downward Spiral for NIN. Both albums spawned the hits “Spoonman,” “Black Hole Sun,” “Closer,” and “Hurt.”

Fans can expect to hear classics from both bands as well as some new material. NIN released a new album in 2013 and Soundgarden did the same in 2012. Although no official set list has been released, fans should expect the unexpected. In a recent interview, Trent stated that the band played nothing from their new album during a few international shows. The band has been a bit spontaneous with their set list, which makes for an unpredictable and energetic show that fans will love.

Nine Inch Nails formed in 1988. The band’s only official member is Trent Reznor who is solely responsible for the direction of the band. The band’s music straddles the lines of many different rock sub-genres, which only adds to the uniqueness of NIN. In 1994, the band released its most notable album The Downward Spiral, which included the hits “Closer,” “Piggy,” and “Hurt.” To date, NIN has released nine studio albums and has been nominated for 13 Grammy Awards.

Soundgarden formed in 1984 in Seattle and was an influential part of the grunge movement. Much like NIN, Soundgarden achieved their greatest success with their 1994 album Superunknown. The album spawned the Grammy Award winning hits “Spoonman” and “Black Hole Sun.” The band went on hiatus in 1997, but returned in 2010 with a new album. The band has sold more than 22 million albums worldwide.
